2011 Needham Bike Fair

Event Date:
Sat, 05/21/2011 - 1:00pm
Event Location:
Newman Elementary School 1155 Central Avenue Needham, MA 02492

Join us on May 21st for the second annual Needham Bike Fair. Like last year, the Bike Fair will feature several great events all held at the Newman Elementary School in Needham, including:

  • Used Bicycle Exchange: Bring old, unwanted bikes to donate or sell. Or come look for used bikes that could work for you or your kids. A portion of the proceeds to benefit Needham Bikes. Last year, some three dozen bikes were sold or donated, including mountain and road bikes, kids bikes and even a couple of bikes with baskets.
  • It's easy to drop off a bike and we'll make sure it finds a new home. We will start accepting bikes dropped off at Newman at 9 a.m.Bikes will be sold during the fair from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Any bike not sold or picked up by 4:00 p.m. will be donated to Bikes Not Bombs.
  • Bicycle Tune-up Workshop: Drop by to get your bike evaluated, tuned and ready to roll. The gear and spoke experts from Dedham Bike will be on hand to help. Fee: $10.
  • Tour de Needham, for cyclists of all ages come together, safely ride an 8-mile loop around Needham. Last year, 50 people showed up to ride and tour some of the new bike signs put up around town at the behest of Needham Bikes to mark recommended safe travel routes and mark teh major entry spots to Needham.
  • Needham Bikes T-Shirts for sale, to help fund more bicycle accommodations in Needham. Be seen on the road and around town in a spiffy white tee with the yellow Needham Bikes logo.
  • Exhibitors: Several local vendors and bicycle mavens displaying their expertise and goods including custom bike builder Mike Flanagan, aka Ant Bike Mike, Bay Colony Rail Trail and charity Beyond the 11th.

This year, tying in to the theme of Needham's 300th anniversary, the Needham Bike Fair will also feature large historic panels depicting cycling through the years. We're also working on getting some historic bicycles, including a high-wheeler. Stay tuned for more info.
